Sony is developing a PlayStation launcher for desktop computers
The company boasts successful ports of PlayStation exclusive hits, including Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and more. Active efforts in this direction in recent years will soon add Uncharted to the above list. Sony also wants to offer their users their own launcher for PCs.
This product will allow them to distance themselves from platforms like Steam and Epic Games Store in game distribution. Information about the “PlayStation PC Launcher” appears in the Spider-Man Remastered Windows version files. Developing its own launcher would provide Sony with an opportunity to sell its high-end PC games directly.
In this way, Sony will follow the example of Activision and Bethesda by starting to present and distribute their games on their own platform. Currently, users can find them on the most popular gaming service, namely Steam.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the “PlayStation PC Launcher” functions like Ubisoft Connect. In this case, you use a different account when you run some of the company’s games distributed on Steam or Epic. We also recall that Sony is also working on the integration of PlayStation Network integration for Windows games.
This functionality will allow PSN account holders to take advantage of many benefits that are now available to PlayStation 4 and 5 owners. The new launcher is also a tool that Sony will not share a portion of revenue with Steam or the Epic Games Store.
