How to Clean Your Laptop Screen – Simple and Complete Guide!

Learn how to clean your notebook screen in a simple way, using products you have at home.

Basic care for cleaning laptop screen

To avoid damage to the screen, let’s start with what not to do.

Pay attention to the instructions to avoid damage to the equipment.

  • Always clean with the notebook off, unplug the power supply and if possible remove the battery
  • Don’t press the screen too hard, you may damage it.
  • Be very careful with homemade cleaning products, depending on the mixture it can stain the screen and the notebook itself
  • Do not use anything abrasive, you can easily scratch the screen.
  • Do not apply any type of liquid or cleaning product directly to the notebook screen.

Now let’s clean up!

How to clean laptop screen

There are several specific products on the internet for cleaning notebook screens, but in our laboratories we only use gel alcohol and two flannels (or microfiber cloth), which everyone usually has at home.

Both flannels need to be clean and alcohol should never be applied directly to the canvas (as stated in the care above).

Let’s go step-by-step to clean the notebook screen:

  • Wet one of the flannels with running water and then remove as much as you can, so that it is at most a little damp
  • Apply two or three drops of alcohol gel to the flannel
  • Use your own flannel to spread the alcohol
  • With great care and little pressure, start cleaning the notebook screen, here we do it in circular motions
  • Use the second flannel (clean and dry) to remove lint and finish cleaning

If you notice some spots that are still dirty on the screen, repeat the procedure in the specific place, but always taking great care with the pressure so as not to damage the screen.

You can use the same procedure to clean the top of the notebook (where the keyboard is).

Tip: If you have microfiber cloths, they tend not to leave lint!

See the image of a notebook screen that has just been cleaned following the tips above, notice how it is lint free and how the image of the garden is reflected on the screen.

We would like to point out that we have been using this procedure for cleaning notebook screens since 2007 (when we started our activities) and that we have not had problems with any type of equipment so far.

Follow the tips carefully and you won’t have any problems either, but we need to make it clear that we are not responsible for any kind of damage caused.
